My Gear

Posted on July 13, 2025July 13, 2025 by Light To Art

I get asked all the time what gear I use for my work as a photographer, so I thought I’d put it all in one place. Here’s my current setup – from cameras to lenses to accessories – and a little bit about why I love each piece.

Nikon D850 – Check it out here

The Nikon D850 is an absolute beast, even though it came out back in 2017. It’s still my main camera and it will stay that way probably for a long time. The dynamic range, resolution, and just the overall feel of shooting with it makes me so genuinely happy so don’t hold your breath if you think that i will be upgrading it. If and when that time comes you will see me holding the Nikon Z9.

The D850 is a workhorse for everything I do so I highly recommend it!

Nikon 16-35mm f/4G ED AF-S VR – Get it here

This lens rarely leaves my camera. Since I’m a real estate photographer, the 16-35mm is basically my daily driver. The wide-angle is perfect for interiors and architecture, and the image quality is amazing. It’s sharp, reliable, and the VR helps if I’m shooting handheld in tricky lighting.

Nikon nikkor lens

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G – Grab it here

My favorite lens ever. Seriously. The 85mm is unbelievably sharp, and it just makes portraits look magical. The bokeh is so creamy, and it’s light enough to carry everywhere. If I’m shooting people, this is the first lens I reach for.

Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G – Check it out

A classic. The nifty fifty never disappoints. It’s small, fast, and great for a more natural perspective. I use it as my walk-around lens when I don’t want to carry too much.

Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight – See it here

When I need flash, the SB-700 is my go-to. Compact but powerful, and it’s been super reliable for events and interior shots where I need extra light.

NEEWER 77mm True Color CPL Filter – Buy here

A polarizing filter is a must for real estate photography to cut down on reflections and make skies pop. The NEEWER True Color CPL is affordable, it protects the lens and does a solid job.

LowePro Tahoe BP 150 – Get it here

This backpack surprised me. It’s smaller than some other camera bags, but the space inside is crazy good. All of the gear I’ve listed here actually fits into this bag – and it doesn’t even look like a camera bag. I love how minimalist it is. Plus, it even fits an iPad Pro 12.9” or a 13” MacBook Pro (maybe not at the same time though).

SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO – Check price

Fast, reliable, and plenty of space. I use the Extreme PRO cards for both photo and video, and it has never let me down. Solid 10/10, can’t go wrong.

LaCie Rugged 5TB – Grab it here

For backups and storage, I rely on the LaCie Rugged drives. 5TB gives me tons of room for all my projects, and the rugged design is great peace of mind when I’m on the go. Also the orange color is nice.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Fly More Combo – See it here

For aerial shots, the DJI Mini 4 Pro is such a game changer. It’s compact but insanely capable, and the Fly More Combo gives me all the extras I need to shoot longer. Perfect for real estate exteriors or creative projects. The only bad thing I can say about the drone is that the bag where it comes in, is super tidy and sometimes it’s hard to get the drone in or out of the bag.

I recommend buying a strap for the controller so you can use both hands when handling the drone and not worry about dropping the RC controller! Also do yourself a favour and get the controller that has the built in screen because it definitely is worth the extra money.

This is the gear I’m using every day – and the LowePro bag makes it easy to carry it all without looking like I’m hauling a full studio around.
